Dr. A. Celeste Gaia

Dr. Gaia is Department Chair and teaches the research methods course, supervises research, and lectures on the topics of social and cross-cultural psychology, sex & gender, child development, and introductory material.


Dr. Gaia was born in Memphis, TN.  She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with a minor in French at Christian Brothers University in 1991. She completed her graduate work at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, with Dr. Warren Jones, and received her master's degree in 1995, and her doctorate in 1997.  At UTK, she specialized in social psychology and was a member of the Personality and Relationships Laboratory and the Gender Research Forum.  After graduation from UTK, Celeste joined the faculty of Emory & Henry College in the fall of 1997.

She now resides in Emory, VA with her husband Wade and their daughter Ciel.

Dr. Gaia is the advisor for the campus Psi Chi chapter.and sponsor for Alpha Beta Chi social sorority at E&H.
