Admission & Scholarship Portfolio

In addition to fulfilling all Emory & Henry College admissions requirements, a student seeking to be admitted into the Art program as an Art Major is required to submit a portfolio of 6-8 examples of art to the Art Department and attend a departmental admissions interview. Incoming first-year students are eligible for scholarships in amounts up to $2500.

The portfolio should contain the student's best work; reflect a range of abilities, interests, and concepts, demonstrate skill in a variety of media, and demonstrate an ability to draw from real objects.

The student may submit original work, 35 mm slides or a CD-ROM at the time of the interview.

SLIDES:
Each slide must be labeled with the applicant's name, title of work (or name of project, if any), date, medium, and dimensions (height x width). The topof the work must be specified with an arrow. Slides must be placed in 8.5 x11 inch plastic sleeves.

CD-ROM:
CD-ROMS should contain 6-8 images, 300 dpi resolution with a maximum dimension of 5” for each image. All applicants must complete the departmental questionnaire prior to the interview. The CD-ROM must be accompanied by printed list including the applicant's name, title of work (or name of project, if any), date, medium, and dimensions (height x width).

Portfolios will be reviewed on Fine Arts Day in February. The student will be notified of the decision of the review committee approximately two weeks after his/her portfolio review. Students who cannot attend Fine arts Day in February should submit their materials prior to February 20, 2010.
